Omni’s roots go back to 1910 when its founder started a small window cleaning company in Detroit, MI. As Omni grew the company took an aggressive approach in capturing emerging new service markets such as providing services to the rapidly growing automotive industry in the 30’ and 40’s and on into the 50s and 60s with the creation of the interstate system and the need for specialized painting services.
By the late 60s and into the 70s Omni again recognized a fundamental change in the way large corporations maintained their own facilities and City Building Maintenance was formed which very soon became the lead division in the company. By the end of the last century, Omni’s 2nd generation of family ownership sold its interest and today the same executive management that has been in place for nearly 40 years now owns the company under the name we all know as Omni Facility Services.
